Sat Sept 14 - Strange Beautiful Music VI: a marathon festival of avant-garde music started by New Music Detroit, featuring experimental and far-reaching sounds ranging from contemporary chamber music and European folk to experimental electronics and noise improvisation.This year’s Strange Beautiful Music composer-in-residence is Evan Ziporyn, Kenan Sahin Distinguished Professor of Music at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and co-founder of Bang On A Can All-Stars. Other performers this year include pianist Vicky Chow (also of Bang On A Can All-Stars), guitarist Gyan Riley, and Eric Copeland (Black Dice).

WASHTENAW COUNTY RESIDENTS: FYI: If you are living in Washtenaw county, are uninsured, and making $620 or less per month, Washtenaw Health Plan A is opening again for the month of April. The WHP reps really want to sign up as many people as they can, which is encouraging, and this insurance will turn into supercharged Medicaid in 2014. More info here!!
